Overcoming EU Regulatory Fragmentation will remain a major challenge for ECA and the wider European aviation industry. While the aviation industry is becoming increasingly cross-border in its operations, the EU's regulatory structures are lagging behind. This creates inconsistencies, potential loop holes and uneven implementation of legislation. To address this, the EU Commission organised a high level Conference in September, where ECA stressed the need for an integrated, structured regulatory framework to allow the industry to prosper while guaranteeing high safety standards throughout Europe.
