On 2 March 2007, negotiators from the EU and the US agreed on a draft text for a comprehensive transatlantic aviation Agreement. Once adopted, this Agreement will further open up the skies between the EU and US, launch cooperation on regulatory issues, and set the scene for a set of "second stage" negotiations to be started 60 days after the application of the Agreement. ECA welcomes this as a step into the right direction, while stressing that, in particular, the imbalance in market access opportunities needs to be urgetly addressed during the second stage.
